My New Marketing Video I Created with PowerPoint and Camtasia

Know any meeting planners? Send them this link.

I just bought a new laptop (more on that later). It gave me the power I needed to use Camtasia to update/edit a marketing video I’d created earlier.

In a previous post, I talked about how the Movavi Video Converter was the only software I found that was able to convert my video from a .vob format I received from a TV station to the Windows format…which I later converted to Flash using Camtasia.

You’re probably thinking: “Wait Peggy, you’re a personal productivity expert. Why are you spending your time doing this kind of stuff?”

Well, for one thing, I’d already spent several hours reviewing the video and trying to write the start/end time of the pieces I wanted so I could then pass on to a video company. It was miserable and tedious so I was procrastinating about getting it done. And poot, by the time I’d finish and ship everything to them, then go back and forth until they got it right (I’m very picky too), I could knock this out myself and be done with it. So I spent 2 hours yesterday editing my own video and got exactly what I needed. Later, I’ll send it to a professional studio to take it to another level, but I’m going with this for now.

Plus, I’m a computer trainer and I LOVE doing this kind of stuff! Every time I turn off the TV and tackle something new, I learn a lot. I also incorporate my new knowledge into a class or conference seminar. I now have a seminar titled “Create Event Marketing Collateral Using PowerPoint” and have already booked it for the Georgia Governor’s Tourism Conference in September, and also at the annual conference for the Potomac chapter of Meeting Professionals International. I’ll also include how to make a movie with Windows Movie Maker (free software you already have) with the training.

This is a perfect fit for me because I used PowerPoint to create the slides in this video and then recorded the slideshow with Camtasia and converted it to Flash. My DVD labels are also created using PowerPoint (see this post). And in another post, you’ll read that I also created banners for my affiliate program using PowerPoint.

So hear this: make it a priority to always improve and expand your skill set. Then figure out how you can make money with the new skills.

(Adjust your speakers. Length approx. 6 minutes.)
